The seventh edition of the Sharjah Light Festival starts today and will be held for 10 days from February 2 in 13 different locations spanning the emirate of Sharjah.
The shows will be held every day from 6.30 pm to 11 pm on weekdays, and from 6.30 pm until 12 midnight during the weekends.
The chosen locations are set to be illuminated with breathtaking light shows and musical performances that throw light on the aesthetics of Sharjah’s architectural landscape, the authority announced at a press conference held at Al Qasimia University Amphitheatre.
Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA noted that the Light Festival – held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah – highlights the emirate’s achievements and reflects its excellence in all matters related to education, knowledge and innovation, and turns technological advancements in the field of lighting into beautiful art displays.
“The new locations will cover all cities and regions around Sharjah,” said Al Midfa, “bringing the total number of locations to 13.
The festival will take place at 13 locations: University City Hall, Cultural Palace, Al Noor Mosque, Al Taqwa Mosque, Al Qasba, Kalba University, Khor Fakkan University, Dibba Mosque, Al Dhaid Mosque and Dr. Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies. There will also be interactive light shows in the Palm Garden and a parade around Khalid Lagoon Corniche.
