5 things to do in UAE this weekend

Indian classical

Listen to the mesmerising voice of Indian Hindustani classical singer Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty on Friday at DUCTAC. Although considered a scion and doyen of the Patiala-Kasur Gharana (style), he can portray the subtle features of other major classical gharanas of India like Indor, Delhi, Jaipur, Gwalior, Agra, Kirana, Rampur and Carnatic music of South India.

Gujarat day

Four popular Gujarati stand-ups are coming to Dubai to celebrate Gujarati Daya at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium today. Shahbuddin Rathod, Dhirubhai Savaiya, Nirav Mehta and Gunvant Chudasma will have you in splits with their witty lines. Doors open at 7.30pm. Call 04-2691512

Ramadan souk

The subcontinent’s fashion elite will be showcasing their seasonal collections at the one-day Ramadan Souk at Godolphin Ballroom, Emirates Towers on Saturday. Some of the top names to look out for are Rimple & Harpreet Narula, Deepak Perwani, Jewels by Queenie, Nomi Ansari and Sania Mastakiya. Entry is free.

Forsaty Expo at Bawabat Al Sharq

Bawabat Al Sharq Mall is hosting the Forsaty Exhibition from Wednesday to Saturday this weekend. The cultural event will showcase products made by over 20 local artisan families. During the four-day expo, visitors at the Mall will have the opportunity to view and purchase a variety of traditional, home-made Emirati products and artifacts including wearables, cosmetics, Bakhoor and perfumes.
