A group of friends got together to give social meetings a new dimension. Instead of the usual partying where dance, music and food pervade, it was decided to have a serious one-hour discussion which would precede the partying. And it turned out to be a good idea. People arrived on time sat around and exchanged experiences and views centered around the topic of the evening.
It was helpful in not just expanding one’s horizons but also resulted in better bonding even with first-time friends. Perhaps in a city like Dubai, where we have come to work at a the career stage of our lives, it is still possible to make longer lasting friendships if we meet at a deeper level than most parties where superficiality hangs in the air.
We named it the Vichar ‘Munch’, because right after the discussion followed a delicious meal contributed by each family.
