Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) is back and is bigger than ever before. The 9th edition brings movie lovers over 160 films from 61 countries, in 43 languages. This year’s Festival will feature 52 world premieres, 14 international premieres, 73 Middle East premieres and 17 GCC premieres.
On the top of our recommendations for movies to watch is Life of Pi, directed by Ang Lee and starring Suraj Sharma, Adil Hussain, Gerard Derpardieu and beloved Bollywood actors, Tabu and Irrfan Khan.
Based of the top selling book by Yann Martel, Life of Pi will feature as the curtain raiser for the festival. The story revolves around a young man’s incredible fight for survival after he is stranded at sea with only one other survivor, a ferocious Bengal tiger.
Also on our list is Gervasi’s ‘Hitchcock,’ ‘Cirque Du Soleil: Worlds Away’ and Indian documentary, ‘Gulab Gang.’ The film documents the crusade for justice for women and lower class people, which is led by Gulab Gang founder and leader, Sampat Pal.
The festival goes on from 9th to 16th December 2012 with screenings primarily at in Madinat Jumeirah and Mall of the Emirates throughout the day.
