ENGLISH VINGLISH – Go and see it soon.
Sridevi’s comeback might as well bring not just all her fans back to the movies, but also hundreds of others who have been waiting for a long time for a decent movie. English Vinglish is a good family
-watch movie that keeps you engaged throughout its 2 and half hours.
A simple story well-told. Good script, good music and good camera work. This is surely a 4 out of 5 film. Surprisingly the movie is not about trying to learn a language, as nothing can beat the yesteryear’s ‘Mind your language’ series. The movie is more about regaining respect in the eyes of the family, and not for learning to speak English, but to prove that there is more to a woman than making ‘ladoos’.
The songs are catchy and the music lilting. Fine acting adds to the enjoyable treat including the bratty kid who comes out as cute and naughty at the same time.
The good-looking French guy with his endearing accent and his amorous advances towards our happily married but an under-appreciated housewife have been delicately portrayed. I guess we will see more of him in our movies bcause Indian women are going to dream about him for long.
Do excuse Sridevi and her anoxeric look and her Hindi diction (or was it dubbed?). Do excuse the Marathi family speaking not an iota of ‘aga bai’. Overall a good watch. 4 out of 5.
