Over the last few weeks, there has been a furore in Bollywood over the casting of Pakistani actors in films, in light of the current political tension between India and Pakistan. There were rumours that the makers of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees had replaced its leading lady, Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, due to political pressure. But the latest reports suggest the makers have decided to complete shooting at an undisclosed location, most likely to be Abu Dhabi, since flying Khan to India right now would be unsafe. The makers have taken this bold decision in the hope that by the time the movie is ready for release in January 2017, relations between the two countries will have improved. Since Khan only had a few scenes left to shoot for Raees, the producers felt that replacing her would be a very expensive proposition and delay the film further. — Sonali Kokra.
