Indian association attempts to resolve expats’ issues

SHARJAH: Indian Association, Sharjah will continue its efforts to solve perennial issues, including the yet unresolved air fare problem, with the government of India, its president, Adv. YA Rahim, told The Gulf Today.

Prior to his scheduled meeting with Indian officials at the annual Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Conference held by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi on Nov.12, he said that all the long-standing issues of the Indian diaspora would be discussed.

Rahim extended an invitation to all prominent individuals and Indian associations in the UAE for a serious discussion on topics and solutions to be presented at the expatriate meet.

The foremost issue is the rehabilitation of returning NRIs who have worked abroad for years, especially veterans and senior citizens who need pensions in their old age.
