Penn Masala, the world’s first and premier South Asian a cappella group, was born with the desire to create music that traversed traditional cultural boundaries and captured the experience of growing up with both Eastern and Western cultures. As the first group in the world to bring the sounds of the Indian subcontinent to a cappella, they have consistently been at the forefront of South Asian-Western fusion ever since.
Renowned for their instrument-free commercial Hindi and English mashups, US-based Penn Masala launched their 10th official album “Yuva” on 20th April. After their hometown album launch, they will be performing it live for the first time globally in Dubai.
With their latest vocal-only compilation, Yuva (translated: “Youth”), they celebrate the visceral memories of growing up through a large repertoire of elegantly layered arrangements ranging from ballads to party anthems. The emotionally-charged album can be found on their YouTube channel including standout numbers “Desi 4Chord Medley” and “Agar Tum Saath Do/Treat You Better.”
