Sachin Tendulkar retires from One-Day cricket

We all knew the moment was coming when Sachin Tendulkar, the ‘Little Master’ of cricket would put away his running shoes and hang up his bat. Despite the warnings, with the official announcement of Sachin’s retirement from one-day playoffs, cricket fans around India and around the world are distraught with the news.

Sachin will continue to play in commercial Twenty20 formats but has decided to step down from main league cricket and to allow younger, upcoming players to take the lead. He leaves the team in the very capable hands of M.S Dhoni, Virat Kohli, S. Rainna and the like. Sachin has picked the best time to retire, while he is at the peak of his 23-year career having several accomplishments to his name including the credit of winning the Cricket World Cup in April of 2011.

We salute his decision and his invaluable contributions to our Nation and the sport we love so dearly.
