Reports revealed that 630 accidents took place across Dubai and Abu Dhabi in a span on 7 hours. The accident rate for the country has shot up drastically after the worst accident spell, which took place last Monday. Motorists across the city have been seen driving rashly and at break neck speeds across highways and residential areas without thought to weather conditions.
Brigadier Omar Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Director of control centre in the Department of Operations at Dubai Police said motorists are not taking into account the effects of the change in weather and the possible consequences
The most serious accident took place on Emirates Road, close to Mirdif City Centre, where a speeding car hit into another car that was parked on the hard shoulder. Three people were killed and two are still fighting for their lives.
We urge motorists to take heed and drive with caution in difficult conditions.
