Things to do during Eid in Dubai

Eid Ul Fitr is the celebration to commence the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan and lasts three days. There is definitely a change of atmosphere during the time of Eid in the UAE; it is a time for celebration and reflection. The common Eid greeting is Eid Mubarak; this is a phrase that you will hear often during Eid. It is considered polite to greet all by saying Eid Mubarak.

Eid Fireworks 2013


The ever-popular fireworks display in Dubai is back during this Eid.

Once again, the Dubai night sky will be filled with colorful lights and sounds during Eid as some of the world’s best pyrotechnicians come together to set the night sky on fire with beautiful fireworks displays.

A grand fireworks show will commence at 9.30 PM every night during Eid from the Dubai Creek at Al Seef Street.

Dubai Festival City will follow this performance by holding its own light, sound and fireworks display during Eid, starting at 10pm at its promenade.



Dubai Sports World 2013

This massive arena offers a wealth of sporting facilities for all ages, including academies and tournaments.

Arab Idol Live Tour 2013 – Dubai

The Arab Idol series comes to Dubai for the first of three concerts by the Arab Idol Live Tour.

Arab Idol finalists for the year 2013, Mohammad Assaf, Ahmad Jamal, and Farah Youssef will perform three concerts this summer for the Arab Idol Live Tour. The first of the trio of concerts will be held in Dubai on August 15, 2013 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Singer Ragheb Alameh will join the three finalists on stage.

Tickets can be purchased at Mercato Mall or online at Ticketingco. All tickets excluding the standing ticket category include dinner at the event.

Doors open at 7pm and the show begins at 9pm.

For those of you that are on holiday during the Eid Ul Fitr celebrations there are many things that you can do during the days of Eid. “Staycations” have become very popular in the UAE and many hotels have great summer deals for you to get out of the house.

Drive up to Fujairah or Ras Al Khaimah and stay in one of their luxury resorts. You can get to each Emirate in around an hour and it feels like you are outside the UAE when you are being pampered in five star luxuries.


A day at Jebel Hafeet

At the top of Jebel Hafeet is a magnificent view that looks out over Al Ain. At the base of the mountain are natural springs and a large park with rivers of hot water running through and two swimming pools. You can walk or drive up the mountain, or if you are less adventurous, there is a small hill in the park that is popular with climbers and children.


Hit the beach

Nothing is better than relaxing on the beach, getting a tan and a good swim. You can enjoy it in different public beaches in UAE. For Dubai residents, Jumeirah Beach Park is the ultimate place, and for Sharjah resident Al Mamzar Park is vast, with a unique location.


Stroll the Corniche

If you like feeling the light breeze at night, why not head to one of the UAE’s longest corniches? Abu Dhabi Corniche extends almost 6km with several gardens and playing areas for children. You can have a walk, jog or even cycle on separate cycling tracks.



Desert safari

The UAE is a country known for its desert, so this holiday, why not try one of the desert safari package offered by many companies? The safari usually includes dune bashing, a camp in the desert with a barbeque and a belly dancer. And when you’re there you can go wild with dune buggies and camel rides.
