Visitors from India contribute to boom in Dubai hotel industry

Hotels across Dubai have reported a significant increase in the number of Indian visitors in the last quarter of 2012. The increase is attributed to the Dubai Tourism Department’s marketing strategy for 2012 targeting the Indian cities of Mumbai, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Ahemdabad.

The Atlantis alone has witnessed over 12% increase in the number of Indian visitors looking to book the hotel’s US$12,000 per night suite with the view of the aquarium, a popular choice among the wealthy clientele.

The trend continues across major hotels include the Pullman Mall of the Emirates, Metropolitan Deira hotel and Lotus Hotel Dubai among many others who are targeting Indian visitors. Whereas, a few others such as the Citymax Hotels Bur Dubai said their key Indian clients are from the corporate sector. Furthermore, they do not target Indian guests as they do no generally contribute to the F&B outlets and often go out to more affordable restaurants in the area.
